WASHING MACHINES

Washing machines are sequences of movements in which the start and end positions are identical. The flyer rotates at least once through 360° in at least one of its three body axes.

These are the Salto wheel and pirouette axes.

Washing machines are therefore complex sequences of movements and combinations consisting of steps, whips or Icarians & pops. Rolling, gliding and jumping contact points or combinations of these come into play.

In addition, all transitions and washing machines that do not utilise gravity can also be flown backwards.

The three principles of transistion

Generell gibt es drei unterschiedliche Bewegungsprinzipien bei allen Bewegungen: Steps, Whips und Icarians.

Steps

Steps are the easiest and most controlled way to move from one figure to another. The base always offers new contact points for the flyer with arms or legs, which the flyer utilises by shifting their weight in a controlled manner.

Whips

In acroyoga, whips are swinging or whipping movements. Gravity is often utilised and the flyer usually moves into the next figure via rolling contact points and pivots.

Icarians / Pops

With Icarians / Pops, the flyer is thrown into the air from the base. The flyer actually has flight time, i.e. "airtime". With Icarians, there is no longer a point of contact between the flyer and the base. With pops, there is still at least one point of contact between base and flyer. In general, Icarians are possible from almost all to almost all figures.
